In 1619 Archbishop Paris Lodron laid the foundation stone to today’s Hôtel Bristol. For centuries the building was residence of several noble families. Numerous times it was extended and rebuilt until it got end of 19th century its present look.
In 1892 the first ‚Electricity Hotel‘, which was in possession of the city of Salzburg, was inaugurated. It was the first hotel in the city of Mozart which was equipped with electricity, and the system supplied a major part of the right side of the old town.
The name ‚Hôtel Bristol‘ appears in 1903. The worldwide used hotel name ‚Bristol‘ has its origin in England, respective in the city of Bristol, the first place where accommodation was offered for payment.
Around 75 years ago the hotel becomes property of the Hübner family. The members, already in third generation, are running the enterprise by themselves as one of the last privately owned hotels in town.
